Storyline 360 is not sold on its own, and Rise 360 appears on Articulate's pricing page only inside the same subscription: Articulate 360 AI, at $1,749 per seat per year on the Teams plan and $1,449 on Personal, as of 9 October 2026123. Qualifying institutions and students pay $1,311 and $1,0862. The free trial runs 14 days1, and when your billing term ends, courses already running in your LMS keep working while the authoring tools stop34.

How much does Articulate 360 cost per seat?
Articulate 360 AI costs $1,749 per seat per year on Teams and $1,449 on Personal, as of 9 October 2026, sold as an annual subscription12. Teams and Personal carry the only current list prices for plans that include Storyline and Rise; the Hybrid plan includes both at a custom price1.
| Plan | Price (USD) | What it covers | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Teams adds Reach Starter, more collaboration features, consolidated billing and priority support3; both plans export to your LMS1. If you build alone, the $300 gap pays for the Teams additions the FAQ lists, which you may not need.
Can you buy Storyline 360 or Rise 360 on its own?
No for Storyline, and not on the pricing page for Rise. Articulate's FAQ says Storyline "is not available as a standalone purchase"3. The Compare plans table marks Storyline and Rise as included in Articulate 360 AI and Hybrid and "Not included" in Frontline1.
The FAQ states that rule for Storyline only, but no page read here sells Rise by itself. On the pages read here, Rise 360 and Storyline 360 carry the same price: one Articulate 360 AI seat.
Frontline, which starts at $500 a year, is a different tool. Frontline builds training kits, decks, guides and interactive videos you share by trackable link, and the table marks LMS publishing "Not included"1. If your client's LMS needs a SCORM package, Frontline does not make one.
What does the subscription include, and what costs extra?
Course building is included; AI avatars and translation cost credits. The Compare plans table marks as included in Articulate 360 AI: Storyline, Rise, AI course generation, publishing for review, 20M+ media assets and 1,000+ templates, LMS publishing as SCORM, xAPI or cmi5, Reach, an AI tutor and analytics1.
AI avatars and translation into 80+ languages use credits on every plan1. Credits start at $250 for 50,000, are added in 25,000-credit increments, and expire at the end of the subscription term with no rollover1. The pricing page's FAQ adds: "Anything included in your plan never touches your credits"1.
If translation is why you are pricing credits, how to translate an Articulate Storyline or Rise course covers the export route and Articulate's built-in AI translation.
Articulate's FAQ also describes its Localization tool as "an add-on to Articulate 360, priced based on annual translation volume"; no page read here gives that price3.
Is there a monthly price, and do prices change by country?
The Articulate pages read here show annual prices only. Both Articulate 360 AI cards read "seat / year", and the Pricing Options article calls Articulate 360 AI "an annual subscription"12. Divided by 12, a Teams seat is $145.75 a month and Personal $120.75; that is arithmetic, not a monthly plan.
If you buy 5 seats or more, a multi-year plan locks current pricing, paid annually2.
The pricing page lets you buy in USD from Articulate or in local currency from a certified reseller1. The FAQ says "Available currencies and purchasing options vary by location"1. The FAQ does not say whether a reseller's price is the USD figure converted, so get the reseller's quote in writing and compare it with $1,749 at your bank's rate.
Did Articulate 360 get more expensive?
Yes. Articulate's notice on the change of 1 July 2024 set Articulate 360 Teams at $1,499 per license a year and Personal at $1,199, telling existing customers they would see the increase "in your next renewal"5. On 9 October 2026 the pricing page lists Articulate 360 AI at $1,749 and $1,449, $250 more on each plan, and no plan without AI1.
No Articulate page read here says when $1,749 took effect or whether Articulate 360 AI replaced the 2024 plans; the notice, updated 16 January 2026, still gives the old figures5.
Under the same notice, if your multi-year plan has locked pricing, your price does not rise until the contract ends5. An existing academic subscription kept its 50 percent discount only while active; after a lapse, resubscribing brought 25 percent5.
Is there education or nonprofit pricing?
Articulate publishes education pricing, but no Articulate page read here gives a nonprofit rate. As of 9 October 2026 the Pricing Options article lists $1,311 per user for Teams and $1,086 for Personal, "for qualifying institutions and students"2, about 25 percent under list by arithmetic.
Neither the pricing page nor the Pricing Options article mentions nonprofit pricing12. If you run a charity, ask Articulate's sales team in writing. iSpring's pricing page offers custom pricing for nonprofit organizations by quote7.
Is Articulate Storyline free, and how long is the trial?
Storyline is not free, but you can use it during a trial. The pricing page says the trial covers Articulate 360 AI and Frontline, and "is 14 days long and includes a generous credit allowance to try advanced workflows"1. You can invite up to 10 additional users to your trial team2.
A page that still says 30 days may be repeating an older offer: Articulate's Storyline 3 announcement of 7 December 2023 linked to a "30-day free trial"6.
Your Rise work is not deleted on day 15. Articulate keeps Rise 360 content and other online data "up to six months after your paid subscription expires or your trial ends"4.
What happened to Storyline 3?
Storyline 3 is the older edition that was licensed separately from Articulate 360 and activated with a serial number, and it is not on the pricing page16. Articulate stopped selling Storyline 3 licenses on 31 December 2023 and stopped supporting the app on 30 December 20246. No page read here gives a Storyline 3 price, so treat any price you find as out of date.
If you still run Storyline 3, Articulate said the app "will likely continue to work in the short term" but that operating system updates may make it function "unexpectedly or not at all"6.
What happens to your courses if the subscription lapses?
Courses you published to your own LMS or web server keep running, but your authoring tools stop.
Courses that were previously exported and hosted in an LMS or web environment will continue to function for learners, but editing and republishing those courses requires an active subscription.
Articulate, "FAQ", answer to "What happens if I cancel?"3
Articulate's cancellation article goes product by product4:
- Storyline 360 stops working: you cannot create, open, edit or publish, so publish what you want to keep first.
- Rise 360 courses you exported and host yourself keep working; courses on Articulate's servers stay viewable by direct link for up to 6 months.
- Reach 360 access to training, learners and reports ends, so export the reports first.
Articulate deletes customer data and content 6 months after a subscription ends4. If your client's LMS hosts the SCORM package, learners can still open it4. For learners who open a Rise link on Articulate's servers or use Reach, the 6-month deletion date is your deadline4.
What costs less if you only need one course?
These prices sit below an Articulate 360 AI seat, read on each vendor's own page on 9 October 2026. None is Storyline, and this page did not compare features.
| Product | Price as published | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Articulate Frontline | Starting from $500 per year, unlimited seats | Articulate pricing page1 | 9 Oct 2026 |
| iSpring Cloud AI | $720 USD per author/year | iSpring pricing page7 | 9 Oct 2026 |
| iSpring Suite | $970 USD per author/year | iSpring pricing page7 | 9 Oct 2026 |
| iSpring Suite AI | $1,290 USD per author/year | iSpring pricing page7 | 9 Oct 2026 |
| Adobe Captivate, Individuals | US$39.99/mo | Adobe buying guide8 | 9 Oct 2026 |
Frontline shares trackable links instead of publishing to an LMS1. iSpring recommends its 14-day free trial before you buy7. Adobe lists teams and education as "Contact us"8.
Before you switch, check whether the tool exports the SCORM version your LMS takes (SCORM 1.2 vs SCORM 2004 covers that choice). No page read here says any of these tools opens a Storyline project file, so plan on rebuilding.
How to do it yourself
You need the pricing page, one real course outline and 14 days you can spend on the trial.
- Count authors, not learners. Teams is priced per user2. One builder: Personal at $1,449. 2 or more people working on the same courses: Teams at $1,749 a seat, which adds collaboration features, as of 9 October 202613.
- Decide whether you need Storyline, Rise or neither. Both come in the same seat1. If you never upload to an LMS, read Frontline's limits before its price1.
- Start the trial when your source material is ready. In 14 days1, build one Rise lesson and one Storyline interaction from a real course, publish a SCORM package and load it into the LMS that will host it.
- Spend trial credits on purpose. If translation or avatars are on your list, run one job through the trial's credit allowance and note the credits it used before you price a credit pack1.
- Get the quote in the currency you pay in. USD online or a local reseller1; with 5 seats or more, ask for a multi-year plan that locks the price2.
- Put the renewal on your calendar a month early. Under the 2024 notice, the increase landed at each customer's next renewal, and a locked multi-year rate held until the contract ended5.
- If you are leaving, export first. Publish Storyline courses, export Rise courses as web or LMS packages, export Review comments and Reach reports, then let the term end4.
| Task | Who | Rough time |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing page and Pricing Options article (steps 1, 2) | Budget holder | 30 minutes |
| Trial build and SCORM upload (step 3) | Course builder | 1 to 2 days of the 14 |
| Exports before a lapse (step 7) | Course builder | A few hours for a small library |
These are working estimates, not vendor figures.
The mistakes that cost the most
- Budgeting from a 2024 article. $1,499 was the July 2024 Teams price5; the pricing page said $1,749 on 9 October 20261.
- Buying Frontline to save money, then finding it does not publish to your LMS1.
- Letting an academic subscription lapse. Under the 2024 notice, resubscribing brought 25 percent, not the 50 percent an active existing subscription kept5.
- Treating credits as part of the seat. Credits are bought separately and expire at the end of the term1.
