What the validator checks

  1. The manifest

imsmanifest.xml must be at the top of the zip and be valid XML.

  2. The version

SCORM 1.2 or 2004, and which edition. See SCORM 1.2 vs 2004.

  3. The launch file

The file the LMS opens must exist, with the exact same upper and lower case.

  4. Tracking code

Whether the course has the code to report completion, a score and to close the session.

Questions about the SCORM validator

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The check runs in your browser. The file never leaves your computer.

Does it play the course?

No. It checks the files and the code. To see it run, try SCORM sample packages in your LMS, or send it to us.

It passed, but my LMS still says incomplete. Why?

Often the completion rule in the authoring tool, or a pop-up blocker. See the 4 causes and fixes.
